It’s become a family tradition to go apple picking in Bayfield, WI each fall. This year we explored the Blue Vista farm, which offers the only certified organic pick-your-own apples in the area.
The orchard sits atop a hill with a beautiful vista ablaze with fall colors. We set out a blanket near the organic blueberry patch for a picnic and enjoyed the peace and calm of the farm. The scenery made us all feel relaxed — as evidenced by the photo to the right.
The sweet apple cider might have helped too.
The kids enjoyed picking the apples and filling their bags. Tim and I enjoyed knowing that they were chemical free.
Of course, Daley wanted to understand how it all worked so he asked the attendant, “How do you keep the bugs off the plants.” She told us about the fake, sticky apples that hang on each tree and trap the bugs.
We made a day of it by heading into Bayfield to walk around and enjoy the marina and sandy beach. It was a perfect fall outing.
