We recently set a family goal to visit all 72 Minnesota State Parks and 4 State Recreation Areas (read about what we hope to gain from achieving our goal here).
To help Daley and Finley record each park adventure, we signed up for the Minnesota State Parks Passport Club.
To become members of the club, we purchased Passport Club kits for each kid, which include a passport, journal, and handy-dandy carrying bag.
Each time we visit a park, the park office will stamp their passports.
After 25 different park visits, they will receive a coupon for a free night of camping and a pin.
After they fill their passport, they will receive another free night of camping and a plaque to honor their accomplishment.
To kick off our family goal, we visited Jay Cooke State Park in Duluth’s backyard. Read about how our plans were foiled here.
Passport Club kits can be purchased at most state park office. More details are located on the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources website.
