What’s your favorite backyard game? Chances are the Bayfront Family Center has it.
Badminton, Frisbee golf, volleyball, kickball, croquet, Bocce ball, baseball, ladder golf, soccer, lacrosse, football, tug-of-war ropes…and more.
We recently spent a lovely sunny afternoon with friends playing some of these lawn games as well as with a colorful parachute and kites.
All of these items were free to use thanks to the City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Division. The games are housed in the Bayfront Family Center building, just beyond the bathrooms at Playfront Park.
A bonus was when the sprinkler system went off and the kids got to run through the welcome mist on such a sweltering summer day.
As my friend, Patty, says, “You can never be bored in Duluth.”
The Bayfront Family Center is usually open the end of May through the middle of September.
This sign says it is open Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a tiny caveat that it is sometimes closed due to events at Bayfront. We made a special trip down there earlier in the summer only to find out it was closed due to the Blues Festival. It’s worth calling 218-730-4300 (Main Parks Office) just to be sure your plans aren’t foiled.
