Need a quick outside activity to get the heart pumping and have fun with your kids?
Climb to the top of Duluth’s steepest street, Fifth Avenue West and Fifth Street.
The Duluth News Tribune reports that it has a grade of 25%. To give some perspective, according to the article, the steepest run at Spirit Mountain is 19%.
The kids and I had fun hoofing up the short, but insanely steep stretch.
It was worth the leg burn when we reached the top, turned around, and took in the vista of the lift bridge and Minnesota Point peninsula.
Of course, once we got back down to our car, we had to drive it too. The kids were delighted when I said the brakes had gone out on our way down and we were headed for the lake!
